Give me a break

What’s the deal with mega-churches canceling services on Christmas day? They say it needs to be a "family day" so some are even handing out a DVD to their congregations to watch on x-mas morning (oh yeah I said it - X-mas). Give me a freaking break. I have several thoughts about this. 1st - what does one do if he or she doesn't have a family? I mean there are people who are single and can't go home for Christmas. But then, i guess these people don't belong at "family churches" (which in my mind is about as bad as a "white" or "black" or ANY kind of other church that segregates in title or practice). 2nd - yet again this is an example of mega-churches doing whatever it takes to make the people happy. Some have called it a "theology-light" church. Maybe one of these days we can concentrate on Truth - and not what makes us happy. 3rd - what do most people do on x-mas morning - they give and open gifts, and more gifts. Let's face it, x-mas in our society is no longer about the Kingdom of God come close in the person of Christ - but in gifts – closing church only propagates that line of thought. 4th (and lastly) this is yet another example of individualism run-amuck in our society. This is a day when the body of Christ should come together to celebrate and proclaim the Lord's first coming as well as his second, and not hide in their individual homes worshiping gifts, tree and family time.

I may be wrong - but I doubt it.
