MOVING!!!!!!!!!

This morning (as I was getting ready to leave from work) I got a call from the pastor (matt) at Second Baptist church. he said the staff had met and unanimously decided that they believe Liz and are I supposed to be at Second Baptist. We're going to fly back in mid-may to meet with the personal committee, which Matt says won't be a problem. He said that at this point they're planning on us being there. As Liz and I hear this we could barely contain our excitement. We're so ready to move and plunge into life with those in Little Rock. This is my dream job, at what seems like a dream church. My mind is reeling with all the possibilities. Wow.

We're going to try to put the house up for sale mid-may and we'd like to move July 1st Thanks for all your prayes, we have felt supported through this whole thing. We still have a few details that are in the air 1). Liz getting into school come jan. 2). A house that is within a couple of blocks of the church.

Again, we're so so so so so so so excited.

wow

Wow. What an amazing weekend we had in little Rock. Here are the details:

1. Friday Afternoon: . We talked about the history and current situation of Second and what each of the staff memebers does. Here's the church situation: Dowtown church that is seeking to relate and minister to those around them and around the world.. They want to do the same sort of things Calvary is doing.
2. Friday evening - Movie at the church.
3. Sat morning - Easter egg hunt at McArthur Park (two blocks from the church). Last year the hunt was at a lake in the suburbs, but this year they wanted to be close to their neighborhood. A good mix of people, black/white, young/old, rich/not to rich. Liz worked at an arts crafts station and I helped facilitate and egg race.
3. Sat afternoon - lunch in the church parking lot. Lot's of the downtown community, church members and homeless.
4. Sat 2pm: 2 hr interview where I (liz sat in to) got to answer questions about who i am, what i want to do etc etc.
5. Sat Evening - Dinner with the pastor, his wife and child, and two other couples. GREAT conversation and we had a blast just hanging out and goofing off.
6. Sunday morning - Sunday school - Text Exodus 20:17 - Taught my a guy with a Yale M. DIV and he did a great job.
7. Sunday afternoon - lunch at a friends house
8. Sunday evening - fly back

Results: We had an amazing weeeknd. Liz and i felt like we bonded with Matt (the pastor) and several of the church members. This is place where we couild easily see ourselves living. It looks like my job would consisit of Mission Waco type Stuff/ Overseas trips and connections/ and some traditional church outreach (which i don't mind as look as it's done in a appropriate manor).

Next Step - Matt is meeting with the staff this week to get their feeling on the past weeeknd. Then, if they decide to move from there, he'll talk to the human resources committee about what he wants to do. I'll then have to probably fly in and interview (sometime in may) with the personal committe and if we're hired we are free to leave ABQ Jjuly 1st.

Things are still up in the air and we are all seeking God, but at the moment there aren't any red Flags so we're estatic about the possiblities. Please continue to pray for/with us.

AR here we come!

At 6:20am tomorrow we travel to Arkansas to meet with Second Baptist church. Liz and are bith excited about the possiblity of joining our lives with those in Little Rock. This move would enable Liz to finish her degree years ahead of when it would otherwise be. The school, hispital church are all within 5 miles of each. Wow. For me, this move would be my dream job. To work with a church as it seeks to be a light in the Dowtown community as well as a light to the world.

The waiting is what's hardest. Liz has to let UNM know if she will accept admission to the school by May 1st. Second has promised to give us a good indication by May 1st. That's great, but it's still going to be a few weeks before we know. Living with the uncertainty and hope creates a weird mix of feelings. Please pray that God will shut the door if we're not supposed to be there and give us a peace if we're supposed to be there.
